…and they want their stuff back! Oh, the clunkyness of it all.

This photo is easily worth one thousand words, but instead: my favorite screen saver: On Mighty Toaster Wings!

  1. John Shutkin says:

Great photos and, yes, Risa, great (or maybe not so great) memories. Also a perfect title.

  2. Fun story and photos Risa!

And thanx for the reminder of those Flying Toasters. What was up with that anyway?

  3. Laurie Levy says:

Your Flying Toaster screen saver is a hoot. Reminds me of our son’s obsession with Pong. We’ve come a long way baby!

  4. Betsy Pfau says:

Perfect image, Risa. What work did you do?

    • Risa Nye says:

Betsy, at the time I was working in the intensive care nursery at UCSF. I ran a parent support group for parents of preemies and critically ill newborns. I remember signing up for a keyboarding program on that computer because I never learned to touch type!! I was not very good at it for years. With all the writing I do (and did), I finally realized I was typing without looking!

  5. Suzy says:

Very funny, Risa! And I love that photo of you in front of that clunky computer. I remember lots of crazy screen savers, but I missed out on those flying toasters, thank goodness!

  6. Khati Hendry says:

The computer and the phone are both real blasts from the past. And you are smiling–great picture. Now our smartphones have just about replaced all that hardware (although a real PC can’t be beat for word processing). Cheers.
