Normally at this time of year I am depressed. Days are short, weather is cold. Chanukah is over and annoying Christmas music everywhere.

Risking covid to save the nation. Wish me luck!

This year is different.

I’m getting ready to go to Georgia! It’s the runoff election of all time. Risking covid to save the nation.

Okay, I’m not going by train, and I’m not going at midnight, but this song keeps running through my head. “Morning Plane to Georgia” scans equally well.

Packing N95 masks and plastic face shields, taking Quercetin and Zinc for immunity.

Going on New Year’s Day which is also my anniversary.

Wish me luck!

  1. Such an important and dare I say heroic way to start the new year, Suzy! I wish you (and hence all of us) luck, and an early Happy Anniversary to you and the mister. Do, of course, stay safe, keep us posted, and think of a prompt so we can give you a forum for the whole story!

  2. Go Suzy!!! Take the midnight train to Georgia and knock those Republicans out of their Senate seats! I worked with a group of women here who sent thousands of postcards to try to get people out to vote. We sent money. But YOU! You’re actually going to protect the vote! Kudos to you, girl! Be safe ♥

  3. Betsy Pfau says:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! SO glad you posted this. Of course you are going! Proud to know you! Good for you!

  4. Good Luck and Happy Anniversary Suzy, we’re counting on you!

With Georgia on My Mind I just wrote 100 postcards!

  5. Laurie Levy says:

Suzy, you are taking action while most of us write our postcards and make donations! So amazing. Let’s pray that Georgia saves us once again. And happy anniversary.

  6. John Shutkin says:

This is so good of you to do, Suzy, particularly with all the risks of travel these days. I’ve written postcards, but am staying in place. So please save the nation for us when you are there. Making Moscow Mitch irrelevant is almost as important as getting rid of Diaper Donny.

And, from a Retro standpoint, I also can’t help but be impressed that you’ve now written two RetroFlashes (RetroFlashi?) for this prompt.

  7. Marian says:

An anniversary of hope for you and all of us, Suzy. You have put our wishes into action, and we are sending energy to you even though we are staying put.

  8. Risa Nye says:

Good luck, stay safe and get the right folks elected!!

  9. Happy anniversary. Go Rev. Warnock. Go Jon Ossoff. We’re all rooting for you to make an impact. (I’m writing some postcards and have done phone banking and text banking.)
